Open Security & Safety Alliance at IFSEC 2019

Evolve with Our Industry – Begin with A Common Platform

WHO:The Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA) was formed in late 2018 to reduce market fragmentation and friction across the physical and cloud-based security markets. Founding members includeBosch Building Technologies, Hanwha Techwin, Milestone Systems, Pelco™ and VIVOTEK Inc. These technology leaders recognize the need to align, collaborate and gather others to progress and truly capitalize on the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT).

See today’s OSSA members here.

WHY: Security and safety products must connect and interoperate. We can not flourish in a connected world without connecting. We have to step outside our brands and agree to design leveragingimportant commonalities to collectively evolve our market. Starting with a level playing field allows companies of varying sizes to contribute and helps us all achievean appealing and productive experience withsecurity/safety systems, services and devices.

WHAT: OSSA member companies are creating the first common Technology Stack specification and defining a common and vendor-agnostic operating system (OS) for the security and safety market. Together, these will fuel the development of value-added solutions as organizations focus more onimagining and innovating at the application level. This drive for unity first, differentiation second is what’s attractingforward-lookingindustry players to OSSA. Commitment to a common platform and an agreed-upon approach will propel the entire market forward.

FromIFSEC 2019, member companies will showcase the first prototype cameras based on OSSA’s commonly defined Technology Stack and OS.

About the Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA)

OSSA is a collaboration initiative that brings together like-minded organizations in order to create a framework providing standards and specifications for common components including an operating system, IoT infrastructure, collective approach for data security and privacy, and a drive for improved levels of performance for security and safety solutions. This will help the market and parties involved to focus on the aspects that really add value for their customers and open up new application possibilities, even beyond security and safety.
